St Itas Logo Competition
Well done to all who took part in our recent Art Logo design competition. St Itas GAA club ran a competition to design a new logo for St Itas GAA. This Logo was going to be used on the website, on letterheads, Clothing and also to be submitted to Croke Park for inclusion on the Museum Wall of club crests and banners.
It was the first time the club would have an official Logo representing our area and team. In the brief outline for the competition the following are examples of some elements which they wanted to see included

Team Spirit
Gortroe
Hurling
Pilmore Pitch
History
Ireland
Irish
Our Village
The prizes for the top three entries
With an I-pod being the first prize
A €20 voucher to a local sports shop as second prize
A €10 voucher to a local book shop as third prize
The winning entry was picked by members of the St Itas GAA Committee. All the drawings were laid out on the floor of Gortroe hall and the committee spent much time deliberating over the drawings. Because there were so many fine drawings from the students it was a long process. It was eventually narrowed down to around 24 drawings and from that each member of the committee voted on their favorite drawing. After this selection phase the final ten drawings were selected and a further round of voting took place. At one point it was remarked that the judges on X-Factor wouldn’t have as hard a job. When the voting was finished and the results added up the following drawings were deemed to be the top three
In first place was Georgina Cassidy aged 12 from 6th class
In second place was Jack O Callaghan also 12 years old from 6th class
Our third placed drawing was from Colm Breslin from third class.
Thanks to Anne O Neill and all the staff at Clonpriest N.S. for their help and time in organising this competition, to all the pupils who took part in this competition we say well done.
A big thanks must go to Martina Cassidy who done all the graphic design artwork on the new logo. She kept all the elements of the drawing and managed to give the club something to have and cherish for years to come. Everyone who has seen the new logo are delighted and all remark how good it is and so true to the club St Itas. Martina, thank you from all in St Itas
