First into action were St Itas and Carrightwohill, who served up an entertaining match for the nice crowd in attendance on a really hot afternoon. Powered by Seamus Harnedy and Sean Supple, St Itas took the game to Carrigtwohill who opened the scoring with a Liam Forde point from play.  St Itas lead for the most part with goalkeeper, Padraig O Brien scoring two long range frees while Gerry McCarthy pointed frm a sideline cut as well.

In contrast Carrigtwohill were almost totally reliant on the accuracy of Ronnie Barret for their scores. He did not dissapoint, however, landing six points from frees as St Itas led at the break by 0-10 to 0-7, with Seamus Harnedy pointing two frees and a 65 to give his side a three point advantage at half time.

Carrigtwohill again scored first in the second half with Barrett on target once more but St Itas in the shape of Harnedy, got through for the opening goal that gave St Itas a bit of breathing space. they got a further boost with Carrig losing full back, Donal Hogan for a careless pull on Harnedy. Far from throwing in the towel, Carrig fought back with points from Kevin Murphy and Barrett which left just a goal between the sides at the three quarter stage.

the extra man and the heat finally caught up with Carrig with St Itas finishing well as Don O Rourke, Harnedy and Alan Loughlin all weighed in with points after Ed Colman had scored a crucial second goal that put the result beyond doubt. Carrig fought to the finish with Sean Flannery pointing, but by then St Itas had secured the win and late points from O’Loughlin and Harnedy sealed a win that puts St Itas into the quarter final. Carrigtwohill will now face the loser of the Bride Rovers/Cloyne replay that takes place on Tuesday night.
